It got warm these last few days. When it gets warm I think about riding outside instead of on the trainer (which is going slow). Unfortunately, the roads were still wet, icy and full of salt. Not the best time to ride, but my friend in Alaska would call me a wimp for sure. To make myself feel better I will add that the wind was howling as well. I found a photo of Mr. Kay and I taken by Mark B last March. That was a much better day and I remember being way overdressed until the sun started getting low on the way home.
I should be knee deep in a training program right now and I still have not found the spark to get my act going. I ran the Conconi Test on my simulator the other day and did something wrong because it did not give me a calculation. Mental note: The lack of a defined plan is killing me.
Mr. Kay and I have put on some miles together, racing and training. One time he clocked a downed tree with his ear. That is what you get for wheel sucking and not paying attention I guess. We never found the piece of skin that used to cover his cartilage.
Back when the WORS series had honest Marathon Races (which I like better), Mr. Kay and I spent 3+ hours in the slop. I remember having to stop for a bit with leg cramps on the last lap. That was painful, but very fun. It made the beer taste even better. This photo cannot show the feel of the jersey stuck to you body. We drained the camper water supply trying to clean ourselves and our bikes.
Last summer we did the 24 hours of 9 Mile together as a Duo and finished 3rd. I think we can take first this summer if we put our minds to it. We will definately need support. Any takers? Maybe I will have to go solo again this year, but only if there is someone to call me names and hand me nutrition during laps. I am wearing a white and red Hammer jersey in this photo taken by Mr. Kay at the start.
